Culture and arts

 

 

Tourists coming to Poland will have numerous opportunities to become familiar with the country's cultural life. Theaters in all major cities invite you to see their productions. Museums and galleries have interesting exhibits, and there are various cultural events in which to participate. These are ideal ways of spending your time regardless of the weather. World-wide known are the musical compositions of Witold Lutoslawski and Krzysztof Penderecki, poetry and essays of Czeslaw Milosz, and film productions of Andrzej Wajda and Krzysztof Kieslowski. Below is a list of the most important museums, theaters, concert halls, and galleries. Galleries with Polish modern art and artistic handicrafts offer works of high artistic level at relatively low prices.

  • Rogalin (20 km. south from Poznan), a branch of the National Museum in Poznan, tel. (48-61) 132030 - a palace complex from the late 18th century containing a gallery of painting from the late 19th century and the early 20th century, furniture and artistic handicrafts from the 18th and 19th centuries; the coach-house houses a collection of period coaches.

     

Szczecin
